Engage, Equip, and Empower Series

APTT - Matter of Time

Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative seeks to support the growth, development, and success of each and every student. The EngageEquip, and Empower series provides opportunities for families to participate in instructional sessions, workshops, events, and activities to engage with Gwinnett County Public Schools. The series will provide opportunities for families to learn how to support their children at home in the core academic content areas, be active participants in their children’s education, and learn about resources, programs, and wraparound services to support their children.

Spring 2025

PBIS Family Night

The Office of Family Engagement in the Department of Federal Programs invites all families to join the PBIS Family Night on March 18, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM via Zoom.

During this session, GCPS families of students in grades K - 12 will receive information about the definitions of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL), SEL Components within the PBIS framework, and how families can help connect with schools and use PBIS/SEL strategies at home.

Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS) Family Night

The Office of Family Engagement in the Department of Federal Programs invites all families to join the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS) Family Night on February 4, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM via Zoom.

During this session, families of students in grades 3-12 will receive information about the Georgia Milestones assessment, a website to practice online testing, and tips to help your child at home.

Elementary AKS Spotlight Family Night

The Office of Family Engagement in the Department of Federal Programs invites all families to join the Elementary AKS Spotlight Family Night on January 23, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM via Zoom.

During the Elementary AKS Spotlight Family Night, GCPS families of students in grades K-5 will receive information about the curriculum being taught in the classroom and learn strategies and activities to support their children at home.

Engage, Equip, and Empower

The Office of Counseling, College & Career Services, and The Office of Health and Social Services Night will be held on Thursday, December 5th  virtually from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm presented by Dr. Demetria Williams, Director & Dr. Heather Alvira, Coordinator, and Crystal Baskerville, Director & Dr. Sandrea Jones, Lead Social Worker.

During this session, GCPS families of students in grades K-12 will gain valuable insights into counseling, college, and career resources available to students and family support options. Families will also understand the importance of consistent school attendance and its impact on student success.

Community-Based Mentoring and Community Schools Night 10/22/24

Community-Based Mentoring and Community Schools Night on Tuesday, October 22nd: presented James Rayford, Academic Support Director, and Soraia Santos-Felgenhauer, Community Schools Director virtually from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm. 

During this session, GCPS families will learn how you can engage with GCPS as a mentor with the Community-Based Mentoring Program that pairs caring adults with students in grades 4 through 12 to provide guidance, encouragement, and support to help our students become successful young adults. Families will also learn about The Office of Community Schools and the process for community organizations to partner in providing wraparound extension educational and recreational programs and services for our students to be successful.
